BUSHED

I am tired.

I got up this morning and cleaned the house . Afterwards, Amanda , Dan, Wyatt and I all went to the place out in the country that sells fresh white corn.

We go there every year because they have the BEST sweet corn and also the price is right. ..50 ears for $11.00. Dan loves it…as a matter of fact; I have not seen many people who love corn like Dan does!

I have just gotten through with the corn and it is all ready for the freezer….and I am bushed. I ended up with eleven quarts of cut corn and several bags of corn on the cob. I hate cutting corn..it makes such a big mess…but it sure does taste good with fresh sliced tomatoes!

Wyatt helped shuck the corn…0713091401

well…

0713091400

he taste tested it anyway!

Tomorrow we go to find out what the new baby is…that is if it will be still long enough to tell!

And

Tomorrow is Danny’s birthday…

          dannyandmama

                       Danny and my mama.

He would have been 55 years old had he lived.

   HAPPY BIRTHDAY DANNY NOGGLE…

       “I LOVE YOU MORE.”

GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

I love fresh corn and it is in our farmers markets right now too. Just started seeing the signs up this week here. It's nice to be able to have that put away for later on. Hugs to you on your dear hubbys birthday.

To cut corn off the cobb....use a bunt cake pan...put the cobb in the center hole to help hold it in place as you cut it off it falls in the bunt pan.....

HI CARLENE, WYATT IS GREAT, TAKING UP WITH CORN ON THE COBB.

ANOTHER WAY OF FREEZING CORN THE EASY WAY, PROVIDING THERE IS PLENTY OF SPACE IN THE DEEP FREEZER.

JUST PLACE THE ONE OR MORE BOXES OF CORN FRESH FROM THE PURCHASE RIGHT INTO THE DEEP FREEZER. NO HARD WORK.

LATER WHEN HUNGRY FOR CORN ON THE COBB HAVE A LARGE POT OF BOILING WATER GOING GOOD AND REMOVE THE AMOUNT WANTED FROM THE FREEZER AND PUT THE CORN EARS ONE AT A TIME INTO THE BOILING WATER, ALLOW A FEW SECONDS BETWEEN EACH EAR SO THE WATER DOES NOT STOP BOILING.

BE QUICK TO GET THE CORN INTO THE BOILING WATER SO THERE IS NOT TIME TO THAW.

WHEN YOU PEEL THE SHUCKS OFF THAT BOILED CORN, WHAT A SURPRISE. WONDERFUL TASTE LIKE FRESH FROM THE GARDEN.

I LEARNED THIS WHEN AN OCCASION AROSE AND COULD NOT PROCEED WITH THE TEDIOUS TASK OF THAT WHICH YOU DESCRIBED IN YOUR ENTRY. PLEASE TRY IT WITH A BOX OF CORN ON THE COBB. sam

I am sure you were very bushed after you got through preparing that much corn for the freeze, but oh how this entry took me back to country days. Corn has always been my favorite vegetable along with tomatoes, and I thought bottled corn was the best ever, unless it was dried corn like my Grandmother used to do. Drying corn is such a process few did it even then, but her. But it has unsurpassing flavor once cooked. I have got to go back in your entries and see how Amanda did. Sounds like she is pretty much back to normal. As usual, you all seem to be providing Wyatt with a busy and interesting childhood, already! He looks so dedicated to his work! Ha. A touching photo of your Mom and Danny. Gerry

Hi Carlene,
Hope you'll recover from your fatigue. As long as Danny is remembered, he is not -really- gone.
